Robert Higginbotham
As Vice President / General Manager, Robert serves as the qualifier of record as a Master Electrician (1998). Robert has over 13 years of executive project management experience including duct bank, CCTV, RTMS, Advanced Power Distribution, and all forms of lighting, signalization, and signing construction. Robert’s areas of expertise are estimating, contract negotiation, contract management, and project initialization. His experience as a Master Electrician has lead to SGI’s expansion throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Broward, and Brevard Counties. His current involvement in ITS implementation has led SGI into a new era of Traffic Signalization. Robert has estimated projects for FDOT Districts Four, Five, and Six as well as county projects extending from Brevard to Dade Counties.
T. Mayfield
As Controller and Chief Financial Officer, T. Mayfield heads the accounting department and supervises over all monetary aspects of the company. She has been with SGI for over eleven years and has worked in the Florida construction industry for 18 years. She is responsible for the monthly financial statements, annual FDOT prequalification preparation, cash projections and collections. She also is the Health Insurance Administrator and one of the Trustees of the 401K Retirement Plan. She and her staff serve to support our team by seeing that our general overall financial stability is healthy and intact.
Dan Lewis
Dan Lewis serves as the Senior Estimator for the Signal Group, Inc. Mr. Lewis has 10 years of estimating experience, and has been a licensed Journeyman Electrician since 1994. His close working relationship with both vendors and contractors has allowed him to help advance SGI’s project base to its diversity today. Recent ITS bidding experience includes: Alligator Alley Design-Build, I-95 (Brevard County) Design-Build, Miami-Dade Expressway (MDX), and the City of Port St. Lucie Master Maintenance for ITS Systems projects.
Jim Adams
Jim is responsible for the contract administration system and does so by establishing best practices that assure responsiveness to our customers requirements. Best practices are practical techniques gained from technical experience. Jim is also responsible for the purchasing system. As purchasing manager his responsibility is to guide SGI's acquisition procedures and standards. His focus is on obtaining supplies and services of requisite quality and within reasonable time. Originally from Philadelphia, Jim moved to Florida in the 80’s. He started his career with SGI in 2009 and has over 20 years experience in contracts and purchasing.
Ed Shea
Ed is responsible for overseeing all construction activities and supervising all operational personnel working in the field environment between two area divisions. Ed has assisted the estimating department with his years of experience in developing a firm cost foundation for projects designed for the Florida Department of Transportation, Districts Four, Five, and Six as well as County projects from Brevard to Broward County.
Trey Cutrer
Trey is responsible for reviewing construction activities and supervising operational personnel working in the field environment coordinating between all four SGI Offices. His experience includes a distinguished military career and transportation engineering for Ralph Whitehead Associates in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Camilo Martinez
Jose (Camilo) Martinez is an ITS Manager for The Signal Group, Inc. (SGI) and he has been a valuable member of our team since 2009. He offers extensive technical knowledge and experience with installing, managing and maintaining ITS, signalization, and video detection systems throughout Florida. He has experience working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Prior to his association with SGI, Camilo was an ITS Supervisor serving the FDOT and multiple municipal customers throughout the state of Florida.
Dave Asselin
"Safety" Dave is in charge of keeping our men and women informed and aware of the dangers that exist in and around job sites. As Safety Director he oversees all aspects of the company from a safety perspective. On most days he is out on site where he conducts random inspections and provides replacement safety equipment as needed. He also organizes and conducts various training and safety courses that allow our people a chance to advance by learning new skills and earning certifications which ultimately makes us stronger and more informed as a company. Dave is a 2nd generation Floridian from Broward County. He has worked in construction for most of his life including owning several small home improvement businesses. He started at SGI in 2007 as a warehouse manager. Since becoming Safety Director Dave has brought our EMR rate down to one of the lowest in the industry (.85).
Ron Nelson
As Fleet Supervisor, Ron is responsible for purchasing, registering and maintaining the fleet of trucks and equiptment. He has over 26 years of mechanical experience with heavy trucks and equiptment. He is a DOT Certified Inspector and a Certified Crand and Aerial Inspector. He manages four construction areas from Brevard to Miami-Dade County.
